The BALAGHA Score is a new approach to evaluating Arabic Rhetoric (al-balāgha)
Arabic Rhetoric is when someone uses rhetorical devices like simile and metaphor to make what they are saying more impactful – whether it’s a poem, or a speech, or a piece of writing.
The BALAGHA Score measures the number of rhetorical devices used in any sample of Arabic. This gives an idea of how much rhetoric has been used.
The BALAGHA Scoring System has been in development since 2022, and will be launched in 2025. Join our mailing list so we can let you know when it is launched.
In the meantime, you can find out more about Arabic Rhetorical Devices or look at some texts annotated for rhetorical devices at The Balagha Corpus.
